OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Blue fell to Austin Spurs, 101-95, on Sunday at the Cox Convention Center. Mitch McGary, on assignment with the Oklahoma City Thunder, scored 16 points with seven rebounds and a pair of steals in 26 minutes.

Dez Wells led the Blue's scoring efforts by shooting 6-of-11 en-route to 18 points. Dakari Johnson totaled 14 points and seven rebounds and Talib Zanna added 12 points and seven boards. JP Tokoto tallied 11 points, five rebounds, three assists and four steals.

After neither team led by more than two possessions in the first quarter, the Blue opened up the second period with an 11-0 run to take an eight point lead and held Austin to one field goal in the first five minutes of the frame. A late 6-0 spurt from Austin cut the Blue lead to 47-45 at the half.

The Blue built on its advantage by outscoring the Spurs by five in the third quarter but Austin began the fourth frame with 11 unanswered points to take its first lead of the second half. The Spurs led 94-87 entering the final two minutes as the Blue chipped away at the deficit, getting to within three with 18.6 seconds remaining. Austin shot 3-of-4 from the foul line in the final seconds to hold off Oklahoma City.

"I thought we did a lot of good things in the game," said Blue Head Coach Mark Daigneault. "We're definitely improving but at the end of the day we were playing better for three quarters and then in the fourth they were the better team. They outworked us on the glass and we didn't play with enough energy to win the game."

Oklahoma City (2-12) racked up 18 assists and 41 rebounds.

Austin (11-3) was led by Orlando Johnson with 19 points and nine rebounds.

The Blue plays its next six games away from home, beginning with a Christmas Day matchup in South Dakota against the Sioux Falls Skyforce. For more information, visit OklahomaCityBlue.com.
