Lake Erie Crushers News Release
The Lake Erie Crushers have a new President / CEO and could have a new Owner by the end of the year. Avon Baseball, the group that owns and operates the Crushers, has entered into an agreement with Blue Dog Baseball to assume control of all aspects of day-to-day operations for the Frontier League franchise. Blue Dog Baseball President and CEO Tom Kramig has the option to purchase the team and intends to do so by the end of the 2015 calendar year.
The Lake Erie Crushers won the Frontier League Championship during their inaugural season in 2009, but finished last in the League during the 2015 campaign. Avon Baseball owner Steven Edelson, the only owner in team history, confirmed the agreement saying, "Mr. Kramig now has the authority to make all day-to-day decisions involving the ball club, as well as the option to buy the team".
The Crushers are revamping all aspects of the operation, including evaluating and adding staff, creating a new, more robust promotional schedule, and evaluating ticketing packages and operations. Crushers Field Manager Chris Mongiardo will return for the 2016 campaign, and will be adding to the coaching staff for next season.
Kramig, who is a lifelong baseball fan and is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio has already assumed day-to-day control and relocated with his family to the Cleveland area. "We are incredibly excited about the opportunity with the Lake Erie Crushers and look forward to becoming part of the northern Ohio sports and business communities" said Mr. Kramig. His 30-year business career has spanned media, marketing & entrepreneurship. He is married to Jacqueline Kramig who was born in Lakewood, Ohio. They have 2 college-age daughters Madison and Samantha.
