Southern Maryland Blue Crabs News Release
(High Point) The Blue Crabs hit the road again, but this time going to High Point for a rematch with the Rockers, a team that swept the Crabs a month ago at Regency Furniture. With strong performances from their starting pitchers, Southern Maryland was looking to see Ian Kahaloa repeat the trend.
The two teams were locked in a pitcher's duel between Kahaloa and Matt Solter, who was pitching for the Rockers. Five innings were scoreless until the Blue Crabs broke the tie with a big fly, as Isaias Quiroz grooved a backup slider for a three-run homer off of AJ Cole for his fourth of the season. High Point would get one back as Michael Russell hit his own home run; after six innings played, it was 3-1 Blue Crabs.
The Blue Crabs put the game out of reach in the ninth, scoring three runs from back-to-back doubles from Jose Rosario and Ryan Haug; the scoring was capped off by a Jack Sundberg bloop single, Crabs led 6-1, and that would be the final tally.
Kahaloa went eight innings and allowed just one run on five hits; Isaac Mattson would finish the game with a strikeout and extend the Blue Crabs' winning streak to four-straight. Their record stands at 20-12, the first time they have been eight games above .500 this year.
Game two begins at 6:35 tomorrow, as Jared Burch will attempt to get the Blue Crabs to five-straight victories and claim the series a day early. The second game will be streamed on FloBaseball.
