Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release
WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Football Club is pleased to announce it has rounded out its 2010 coaching staff by adding Chris Wiesehan in the role of Receiver's Coach. Wiesehan joins the Blue and Gold after spending last season with the UCLA Bruins in NCAA Division 1 as their Tight End's Coach.
Wiesehan spent the 2007 and 2008 seasons as the offensive line coach at Syracuse. During his tenure, the Orange had their first 1,000-yard rusher in five seasons and two of his players were either drafted or signed by NFL teams.
In 2006, he served as the offensive line coach at James Madison and the school won the Atlantic 10 South division and led the A-10 in rushing. He gained NFL experience in 2005 as an offensive assistant for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Wiesehan spent four successful seasons (2001-04) on the staff at Northern Arizona. In 2001 and 2004, he was the teams' wide receivers coach. In 2002-03, he coached the offensive line. In that two-year span, six linemen earned All-Big Sky honors and in 2003, the line allowed the fewest sacks in the Big Sky while helping produce a 1,000-yard rusher and two 1,000-yard receivers.
The St. Louis native was a wide receiver/kick returner at Wabash College (1990-93). He was named his team's receiver of the year three times. As a senior in 1993, he served as team captain and earned All-America recognition.
"We are excited to have Chris Wiesehan on board with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He has extensive experience in Division 1 NCAA football as well as experience in the professional ranks. He'll be a great teacher for us and we're pleased to welcome him to the Bomber family," said head coach Paul LaPolice.
