Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release
WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announced today that they have signed kicker Justin Palardy and offensive lineman Chris Greaves to contract extensions.
As per team policy, details of the agreements are not disclosed.
"One of our top priorities has been to ensure that we have a talented group of non-imports on our roster," said Vice-President of Football Operations and General Manager Joe Mack. "Both Justin and Chris are talented Canadians who will be beneficial to our football team for many years."
Palardy was originally drafted by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats last season and began the year as their punter. He was later released and subsequently signed with Winnipeg in August where he became the Blue Bombers' field goal kicker. Palardy finished the year making ten straight field goals in his last two games which made him good on 26 of 30 for the year.
"I'm thankful to this organization for giving me the opportunity that they did," said Palardy. "I'm confident I'll be able to pick up where I left off last year so that I can be a kicker that this team can rely on for many years."
Greaves was Winnipeg's sixth round pick in last year's CFL Canadian Draft. Originally a defensive lineman, he was converted to the offensive line in training camp and spent the entire year on the active roster. He played in five games and made one start at left guard on Labour Day.
"I'm very happy to be able to remain with the team that drafted me last year," said Greaves. "It was a transition year going from defense to offense but I learned so much in the process and I'm hoping to take the next step and become a regular contributor on the offensive line."
