WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed import receiver Jeremy Blount and import defensive back David Pender Jr.
Blount (5-9, 157, South Dakota, DOB: November 12, 1988 in Tampa, Florida) was an outstanding receiver and returner at South Dakota, totaling 49 receptions for 815 yards and six touchdowns over his four years, while also returning 87 kickoffs for 1,950 yards and one touchdown. A speedster, Blount turned in a time of 4.38 in the 40-yard dash in front of NFL scouts.
Pender (6-0, 172, Purdue, DOB: December 4, 1987 in Jacksonville, Florida) appeared in three games for the Indianapolis Colts in 2010 after being a final cut of the Philadelphia Eagles in training camp. He spent time on the Baltimore Ravens' practice squad before being picked up by the Colts. Pender was claimed by the Cincinnati Bengals in December and attended training camp with the team last season, recording four tackles in the preseason before being among the team's final cuts. A three-year starter at Purdue, Pender recorded 129 career tackles and three interceptions with the Boilermakers and also deflected 33 passes, second behind Steve Jackson's all-time record of 35.
