Blue Anchors Fall to MoonDogs in Season Finale

St. Cloud, Minn. - The Alexandria Blue Anchors fell to the St. Cloud Rox Sunday afternoon by a score of 10-2 at Joe Faber Field. The Anchors are now 3-10 in 2014.

The Rox quickly jumped on starter Graylon Brown in the bottom of the first scoring two runs. The offense was provided by a Nate Robinson RBI base hit to score Seth Heck. St. Cloud scored their second run on an error by Brown allowing Chris Paul to score.

St. Cloud was back on the board in the second. The first three batters reached to load the bases with no outs and a double by Paul drove in two to increase their lead to 4-0.

In the bottom of the third, the Rox used three hits and a walk to score three more runs, highlighted by a Bradley Strong two-RBI single to score Heck and Harrison Wenson making the score 7-0.

Kevin Walsh entered in the fourth in relief of Brown and after retiring the first two batters of the inning he walked Garrett McMullen, who came around to score on a triple by Mitchell Kranson to put the Anchors down 8-0.

The hot-hitting Rox continued their offensive outburst in the fifth. Chris Paul hit a sacrifice fly scoring Eric Loxtercamp and Clay Ardeeser drove in Heck with a groundout to give St. Cloud the 10-0 advantage.

The Blue Anchors bats awoke in the seventh but it was not enough. Dylan Dresel singled to start the frame and moved to second on a Ryan Busch single. Both runners moved into scoring position on a Lukas Hermanson groundout. Jake Bergren hit a sacrifice fly to bring home Dresel and Dalton Leuschke followed up with a single to score Busch and make the score 10-2 in the Rox' favor.

Brown (0-1) took the loss in his spot start going three innings allowing seven runs on eight hits and two walks with three strikeouts. In two innings, Walsh gave up three runs on three hits and two walks. Aaron Rozek finished the game pitching three shutout frames giving up just three base runners with two strikeouts.

Minnesota Baseball Academy Player of the Game - Aaron Rozek (LHP) - Rozek had his most effective outing of the 2014 season by throwing three shutout innings. The Minnesota State southpaw has pitched at least three innings in all three of his appearances.
