Lexington County, SC -- On a night with postgame fireworks, the Lexington County Blowfish's bats provided some extra sizzle on the night in a 15-6 win over the Florence RedWolves on Independence Day at Lexington County Baseball Stadium.

The sold-out crowd was treated to spectacular Independence Fireworks, honoring each branch of the United States Armed Forces, and paying tribute to the celebration of July 4.

A bases-clearing triple by Trevor Bradley (USC-Aiken) (4-for-6), combined with 1.2 innings of solid pitching on the mound made him the star on the night. Bradley bulleted a line shot down the right field line into the corner, easily scoring three, and extending the Blowfish's large lead.

Sly Edwards (Charleston Southern) did not follow far behind, reaching base every time he came to the plate (2-for-2, 2 runs scored).

Charlie Barnes (Clemson), who won his first game of the season, mowed the RedWolves down at every turn. He received some spectacular defense, including a throwout of Ben Holland at second from Edwards in the first inning. He retired nine in a row at one point, pitching at total of five innings of one-run ball.

Bennette Hill (Shelton State), Jared Williams (University of South Carolina), Howard Joe (Mercer University) and Tyler Lancaster (Spartanburg Methodist) all knocked in two runs on the night.

Florence continually chipped away at the lead, coming as close as within three runs, but eight runs in the final two frames from the Blowfish's bats proved to be more than enough to deal the RedWolves their eighth loss in the last nine games.

Up next for the Blowfish is a three-game road trip starting in Fayetteville to take on the SwampDogs on Monday, July 6. Catch all the action on Z93.1 FM The Lake starting at 6:50 p.m. for the pregame show.

The Blowfish will return home on Friday, July 10 for a matchup with the SwampDogs. Tickets for Princess Night, which will include a Princess Parade and postgame fireworks, are still available by calling the box office at 803-254-FISH, online at blowfishbaseball.com, and at Blowfish on Main (101 East Main Street in Lexington, S.C.)
