THOMASVILLE N.C.- The Columbia Blowfish even the series (2-2) with a sold 4-2 victory over the High Point Thomasville HiToms Monday night at Finch Field in Thomasville, North Carolina.
The starter on the hill for the Blowfish was, Zach Russell-Myers (Bluefield College), now (2-1) on the season as he threw seven and a third, giving up one run on six hits, no walks, and eight strikeouts.
Blowfish, Jake Welch (Bethune-Cookman), Allen Staton (North Greenville), Brandon Mitchell (North Carolina A&T), and Eros Modena (Bethune-Cookman), all score off of the bats of Michael Wilson (Francis Marion), Zach Smith (South Carolina), and Jake Welch.
Brody Koerner (Clemson), will take the loss bringing him to (0-1) on the season.
Monday's win over the HiToms brings the Blowfish to a (6-5) record on the season, leaving them in third place in the West Standings of the Coastal Plain League.
The Columbia Blowfish will be back in action at home Tuesday night, June 11th, facing the Florence Red Wolves, with first pitch set for 7:05pm. Gates open at 6pm.

The Coastal Plain League is the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 17th season in 2013, the CPL features 14 teams playing North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts. Furthermore, the CPL has had over 1,000 alumni drafted and 62 alums - including 2011 AL MVP and Cy Young winner Justin Verlander - make their Major League debut thus far.
