HIGH POINT-THOMASVILLE, N.C. - Mike White homered and the HiToms scored two in the seventh to overcome the Columbia Blowfish 6-3 at Finch Field.
With High Point-Thomasville trailing Columbia 3-2 after DC Arendas' two-run home run in the top of the seventh, Andrew Cox was tagged out on a bunt attempt for the first out. Alex Raburn then walked before Max Gagnon ripped a double off the leftfield wall to put runners on second and third. A passed ball charged to Columbia catcher David Houser scored Raburn from third to tie the game at three. Blowfish starter Zack Russell-Myers then hit Mike White with a pitch and intentionally walked Evan Stephens to load the bases. The next batter, Sam Foy, hit a sacrifice fly to plate Gagnon and give the Tommies a 4-3 advantage.
Mike White gave the HiToms their first lead of the game at 2-1 with his fourth home run, a solo shot, of the season.
Bennett Hixson (1-2) earned the win in relief while Nick Miller earned his first save of the season with a six-out save. Miller didn't allow a hit in two innings and struck out one as the HiToms won for the seventh time in nine games to improve to 26-27, 13-12 in the second half.
Russell-Myers (4-6) suffered the loss, giving up four runs, three earned, on seven hits with five walks and five strikeouts. The Blowfish fell to 30-20, 13-9.
