Lexington County Blowfish News Release

PETERSBURG, VA - Riding a two game-winning streak, the Columbia Blowfish entered the night with a contest against the Petersburg Generals looking to keep their heads above water.

Christopher Falwell started on the mound but put the Blowfish in a hole early. Falwell only allowed one hit, but surrendered 4 runs in two and one third innings pitched.

After surrendering the early lead to the Generals, the Blowfish did their best to claw back into the ball game. Led by Allen Staton. Staton (North Greenville) was locked in, knocking in a run and scoring one while going 4 for 4 at the plate.

Derek Fritz (Florida State) continued to come around at the plate, going 2 for 4 with a pair of singles and scoring a run.

Trevor Bradley (Francis Marion) contributed late with an RBI single to further cut down the General lead, but Petersburg was able to shut the game down in the final frame to secure their first win of the season.

Zach Hamilton (Florence Darlington Tech) came in to provide three and two third innings of relief and struck out 3 batters in allowing one run.

Columbia falls to 3-4 overall on the season.

The Blowfish finish up their three-game road trip with a game against the Edenton Steamers on Wednesday evening at Edenton. The Blowfish return home on Thursday night to take on the Gastonia Grizzlies at Historic Capital City Stadium for a 7:05 first pitch.
