Lexington County Blowfish News Release
The Lexington County Blowfish launched Blowie's Online Reading Challenge last week in an effort to keep children reading across Lexington County during the corona virus school closures. With schools and libraries closed, the Blowfish and Lexington County Public Library have partnered together to offer e-reading materials for the program.
"The change in the environment of children participating in the program allows for a wonderful opportunity for families to develop a deeper relationship through reading," Youth Services Coordinator Melissa Pityk stated. "There are downloadable read-alongs, read-alouds, and of course the e-books for older children and teens; all of which allow for these deeper relationships to take place."
Blowie's Online Reading Challenge, presented by the Lexington County Chronicle, Comporium, Lexington County Farm Bureau, and Dave & Buster's, launched at the beginning of April. Parents can register their children using the online registration form on goblowfish.com. The program will run through mid May.
Students are asked to read one (1) grade appropriate book each week for four (4) weeks. Upon completion, the participating students will receive two (2) FREE tickets to a Blowfish game this season, as well as a free Blowie Snowie Shaved Ice and a complimentary game of speed pitch.
After the challenge ends in Mid May, there will be an online completion form that will need to be filled out to confirm the number of tickets needed for your student and family.
Parents can register their children by going to goblowfish.com.
