Bloomington Extreme announces schedule

The Bloomington Extreme will open the 2008 United Indoor Football at U.S. Cellular Coliseum against Sioux Falls on March 8, the league office announced Tuesday.

The Extreme's opening game is among three that signal the earliest start of the season in UIF history. The league will feature eight teams this season divided among two conferences.

Bloomington will once again compete in the Eastern Conference along with Omaha, RiverCity (St. Charles, Mo.) and newcomer Wichita. Western Conference members include defending UIF champion Sioux City, Billings, Colorado and Sioux Falls.

Teams will play 14 games and have one bye over 15 weeks. Each team will play eight conference games. Regular season games end June 14 with playoff games the next two weekends. United Bowl IV is tentatively slated for July 12.

Following its opening home game, the Extreme play at Omaha the second week before returning home for the next two weeks to face Wichita on March 23 and Colorado on March 28.

Bloomington plays at Wichita on April 5 and RiverCity on April 12 before returning home to face Omaha on April 19. The Extreme is at Sioux City on April 26, at home against RiverCity on May 3 and on the road May 10 at Billings.

The Extreme faces Sioux City at home on May 17 before enjoying a bye week on May 24. Bloomington winds up the regular season with a road game at RiverCity on May 31, a home game against Omaha on June 7 and a road game at Sioux Falls on June 14.

Extreme officials also are hopeful of adding a home exhibition game at the beginning of the season.
