Sioux Falls Storm News Release
The United Indoor Football Association (UIF) announced the Storm's 2008 schedule today as well as the divisional breakdown for the 2008 season. The Storm will be looking to extend their 38-game win streak and win their fourth consecutive United Bowl title.
The eight team UIF will be divided into two divisions. The West will consist of Sioux Falls, Sioux City, Billings, and Colorado. The East will feature Omaha, RiverCity, Bloomington, and the expansion Wichita Wild. The Storm has won three division championships in the last four years.
During the 2008 season, the Storm will play every team in the UIF, with six of the seven other teams visiting Sioux Falls. The Storm's 2008 season will get kicked off on March 8 when the team travels to Bloomington, IL to battle the Extreme. This will be the Storm first ever trip into the US Cellular Coliseum and only second ever meeting with the Extreme.
The home season will open the following week as the Storm will play host to the Colorado Ice on Monday, March 17, which is also St. Patrick's Day. Monday Night Football in Sioux Falls will open the 8th season of Storm football in Sioux Falls. The Storm has never lost a home opener.
Following the Storm's bye week, the team will travel to Omaha on March 29. This will be the only meeting between the Beef and the Storm during 2008. This is the first time since 2003 that the Beef will not travel to Sioux Falls.
The Storm will be in Billings on April 5 before coming home to battle Sioux City on April 12. The Storm has won the last eight meetings with the Bandits, including a win in United Bowl I. The Bandits handed Sioux Falls their last loss on July 15, 2005 when the Bandits beat the Storm 54-48 in Sioux City.
Sioux Falls will host Billings on April 19, followed by a road game in St. Louis where the Storm will play RiverCity for the first time in franchise history. The Storm will return home for the next three weeks as Sioux City, RiverCity, and Wichita come to the Sioux Falls Arena.
The Storm will then hit the road for three weeks and make the long trek to Billings for a game on May 24. The Storm is 10-3 all-time vs. the Outlaws in their long history. The following week, the Storm make their only trip to Sioux City of the season and the last road game of the season will take place on June 7 in Fort Collins, CO as the Storm will face the Ice.
The final game of the regular season will happen on June 14 with the Strom closing the season just like they opened it with a game against the Bloomington Extreme. The UIF playoffs will begin on June 20-21 and continue on June 27-28. United Bowl IV will take place on either July 11 or 12. No playoff games are scheduled over 4th of July weekend.
All seven Storm home games begin at 7:05 PM. Season tickets for the 2008 season are on sale now. Call the Storm office at 332-4225 to reserve your seats for 'The Greatest Show in Town".
