
Blood Drive Set for Saturday

BIRMINGHAM, AL â The Birmingham Barons are happy to announce that they will be teaming up with the American Red Cross to sponsor a blood drive on Saturday, May 10th in the Riverchase Galleria. The drive will be located on the Galleria's lower level near the food court and will be conducted from 10:00 am until 3:30 pm.
As part of the drive, several Barons players will be in attendance signing autographs and meeting with fans along with Barons mascot Babe Ruff who will also be on hand for pictures and autographs. There will also be an opportunity for those who donate blood to register to win autographed memorabilia from the Barons and Chicago White Sox as well as Barons tickets for the 2003 season.
The American Red Cross is dedicated to saving lives, easing suffering and restoring hope at home and around the world. The Red Cross provides nearly half of the nation's blood supply to patients in 3,000 hospitals nationwide.
In Alabama, the Red Cross has supplied blood to Alabama hospitals for nearly 53 years. Locally, the Red Cross supplies blood to over 100 hospitals in Alabama, the Florida Panhandle, and the Mississippi Gulf Coast. To meet blood needs in our region, the Red Cross must collect approximately 850 units of blood a day from volunteer blood donors. Eligible blood donors are encouraged to donate every 56 days.
