Green Bay Blizzard News Release
After their convincing 77-40 win over the Cincinnati Jungle Kats on Saturday, the Blizzard are in first place in the Midwest Division. This win has set the stage for a Showdown at the Resch next Friday, July 20th as the Blizzard take on the Louisville Fire. The Blizzard took an early lead, and never looked back. In the opening quarter former Cincinnati Bearcat Gino Guidugli came out on fire. Guidugli completed 5 of his first 8 passes for 120 yards and three touchdowns. The Blizzard took a 21-7 lead into the second quarter.
Guidugli added two more touchdowns in the second quarter with passes to Scott Burnoski (6 yards) and Nathan Hardwick (30 yards). Blizzard FB/LB Tony Ficklin added a 1-yard touchdown run to take a 42-21 lead. With a Jungle Kat field goal, the Blizzard led 42-24 going into the half.
The third quarter didn't see a score until five minutes remaining with a Tyre Young recovered fumble. Jungle Kats quarterback Scott Jeffries fumbled the quarterback-center exchange and Young recovered the ball in the end zone. To close out the third quarter, WR Gerald Harris returned a missed field goal 55 yards for a touchdown to increase the Blizzard lead to 56-24.
The fourth quarter was a scoring barrage by Guidugli and the Blizzard offense as the team looked to put away the Jungle Kats. Guidugli threw touchdown passes to Scott Burnoski (4 yards ), Nathan Hardwick (14 yards) and Quentin Ware-Bay (35 yards). Guidugli's trip back to Cincinnati truly was a homecoming, as the win puts the Blizzard in first place in the division.
The Blizzard returns home on Friday, July 20th to take on division-rival Louisville Fire. Not only will this game be for the division lead and possible home field advantage in the playoffs, it will be a night for the fans. The ever-popular Buck Night is back, with dollar beer, soda and hot dogs. On Fan Appreciation Night, the team will also give away "Slogan" t-shirts to the first thousand fans entering the Resch Center. Help us make the Resch Center a real "Blizzard" and wear white.
Tickets are still available for Friday night's game. To order tickets contact Ticketstar at (920) 494-3401.
