Green Bay Blizzard News Release
During his nine years as an indoor professional football defensive back, Corey Roberson learned how difficult it can be to stop big-bodied, athletic wide receivers.
Now, in his first year as head coach and general manager of the Green Bay Blizzard, Roberson is building a roster that includes multiple tall, dynamic pass-catchers who will create matchup challenges for opposing defenses.
Roberson announced on Friday that the Blizzard has signed wide receiver Keshaun Taylor, who two years ago was one of the nation's top NCAA Division II receivers while at Mars Hill University in North Carolina. As a senior at Mars Hill, Taylor averaged 128 receiving yards per game and scored 12 touchdowns. The first-team, All-South Atlantic Conference performer averaged 20 yards per catch his final season, and 17 yards per catch during his outstanding four-year career.
At 6-1 and 180 pounds, Taylor is the third 6-foot-or-taller wide receiver Roberson has signed. Jared Garcia (6-2, 205) and Levi Copelin (6-2, 195) are the others. In addition to those three, last year's rookie sensation Kezlow Smith (seven touchdown catches in seven games) and B.J. Hill (the league's special teams player of the year) give the Blizzard plenty of explosive offensive pass-catching weapons.
"It is exciting to add Keshaun to our wide receivers room," said Roberson, who has signed 21 players - including the five receivers. "Keshaun was a highly productive big-play receiver while in college at the D-II level, and he has a great blend of size and athleticism that will be fun for our fans to watch."
Roberson will build a roster of up to 40 players prior to training camp in February. That roster will be reduced to 25 players for the season opener.
