Blizzard Sign D'Nerius Antoine
December 3, 2019 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Green Bay Blizzard News Release
D'Nerius Antoine, a 6'1", 225-pound safety/linebacker hybrid who attended rookie camp with the Chicago Bears in 2017, has signed with the Green Bay Blizzard.
Antoine was a two-year starter and first-team All-Conference USA performer after his senior year at the University of Southern Mississippi. Prior to that, he was a junior college first-team All-American at Trinity Valley.
When he arrived at Southern Miss following his decorated JUCO stint, Antoine projected at linebacker. However, coaches asked him to shed 10 pounds, and he excelled as a safety with exceptional run-support skills. During his two years in Hattiesburg, Antoine racked up 185 tackles, including 10.5 for loss, and two interceptions. In his junior season, he had 103 tackles, including 75 solo stops, and capped the year with a 10-tackle performance against Washington in the Heart of Dallas Bowl.
In addition to his shot with the Bears, Antoine, a native of New Iberia, La., signed with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League. NFL.com, in its evaluation of Antoine, wrote that he "carries an NFL frame with the body type to fit the box. Flies into the play with reckless abandon." "D'Nerius is a physical, aggressive player who loves to hit and stick his nose in the action," said Roberson. "He excelled at the NCAA Division I level, enough to catch the attention of the Chicago Bears, and we are excited to have him on our roster."
