Blizzard Open up at Home Against Defending ArenaCup Champs

The 2009 af2 schedule was released today, with the Green Bay Blizzard opening up at home against the defending ArenaCup Champion Tennessee Valley Vipers. The game will be played on US Cellular Field at the Resch Center on Saturday, March 28th, with kickoff set for 7:00pm.
The Blizzard will also host the Tulsa Talons on Friday, June 19th. Tulsa won the 2007 ArenaCup, thus, bringing the past two ArenaCup champions to Green Bay in 2009. The Talons also made the playoffs in 2008, and three other 2008 playoff teams are on the schedule for 2009. The Blizzard will host the Manchester Wolves in a rematch of last season's second round playoff thriller on Friday, April 10th. The Arkansas Twisters will come to Green Bay on Friday, April 24th, and the Blizzard will travel to Pennsylvania to take on the 2008 East Division Champion Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers on Saturday, May 23rd.
New for 2009, the Blizzard will have two, three-game series against division-rival Quad City Steamwheelers and the team's newest in-state rival, the Milwaukee Iron. The Blizzard will travel to Quad City on Saturday, April 18th and July 11th, while hosting the Steamwheelers on Friday, May 29th. The Blizzard will travel to Milwaukee on Friday, May 1st and again on June 26th and will end their home schedule on Friday, July 17th against the Milwaukee Iron.
