Green Bay Blizzard News Release
Green Bay, WI - The Green Bay Blizzard (1-6) are set to renew their rivalry against the Iowa Barnstormers (3-4) Sunday afternoon on Aurora BayCare Freeze Field at the Resch Center. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:05pm.
The Blizzard will look to turn things around as the team reaches the halfway point of the season and are looking up at everyone else in the United Conference. A victory over the rival Barnstormers will begin to point the team in the right direction. The Barnstormers are in the midst of a 3 game losing streak and only 2 games in front of the Blizzard in the standings.
Sunday's matchup will have two of the top quarterbacks in the league, Matt Behrendt of the Blizzard and Donovan Porterie of the Barnstormers.
Behrendt, a bright spot this season for the Blizzard, comes into Sunday's game at or near the top of the league in several passing categories: attempts (206), completions (109), yards (1,172), and touchdowns (26). Last time out, Behrendt tossed 5 touchdowns and no interceptions in the 55-34 loss to Billings.
Porterie, who played last season for the Blizzard, has thrown multiple interceptions in the last 3 games. The Blizzard defense will look to continue that trend and get their hands on some Porterie passes.
Sunday is Youth Jersey Day! The first 1,500 kids 14 and under through the doors will receive a FREE Blizzard replica jersey courtesy of Aurora BayCare and WFRV Local 5.
Tickets start at just $12 and are available now at the Resch Center box office or online at www.TicketStarOnline.com.
