IFL Green Bay Blizzard

Blizzard Home Opener this Sunday

March 4, 2016 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Green Bay Blizzard News Release

Green Bay, WI - The Green Bay Blizzard (0-2) open their 2016 home schedule this Sunday, March 6th versus the defending champion Sioux Falls Storm (2-0) on Aurora BayCare Freeze Field at the Resch Center. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:05pm.

The Blizzard are finally coming home after opening the season on the road for the first two weeks of the season. Losses to Cedar Rapids and Iowa have the Blizzard looking up at everyone in the United Division of the IFL, but look to start turning things around at home versus the Storm.

The offense has struggled through the first two games, averaging 187 yards and 18 points per game. Head Coach Chris Williams has made several personnel changes this week that he hopes can get the offense moving in the right direction. Protection for quarterback Matt Behrendt will be key against a tough Storm defensive front as he looks to get the ball downfield to wide receivers Bryan Pray and Markeith Summers. That combination accounted for 16 receptions and all 3 touchdowns last week against Iowa.

On the other side of the ball, the Blizzard are looking to be able to contain a balanced Storm attack which has scored 51 and 54 points in their first two games of 2016. Stopping the run and pressuring the quarterback will be the central focus in stopping Sioux Falls on Sunday afternoon.

This game is also Faith & Fellowship Day and Scout Day. The Blizzard have joined forces with many local churches and Boy Scout troops from all over Northeast Wisconsin to take part in this game.  Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit Feed My Starving Children.

Tickets start at just $12 and are available now at the Resch Center box office or online at www.TicketStarOnline.com.
