Green Bay Blizzard News Release

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) – Blizzard Quarterback Chris Greisen has learned to throw the ball away. Using this knowledge, he threw no interceptions while piling up nine touchdowns in Green Bay's win over the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz, 71-53.

"Coach Miller did a great job of making adjustments," said Greisen. "It was obvious to us that they were going to try to take Randall out of the game. We have some great receivers besides Randall, and they stepped up."

Two of Greisen's touchdowns were to OS Randall Lane, which put Lane to 19, a franchise record. Greisen, the Baby Ruth Real Deal Offensive Player of the Game, threw three more scoring passes to DeRonn Finley and Robert Garth each. Luck was also on Green Bay's side, as OL Reggie Poole caught a pass that was deflected by the defense and ran it four yards for a touchdown.

"Coach came in after the Quad Cities game and said these next three weeks, at home, he's going to change things," Finley said. "All we're doing is practicing hard, and when you practice hard, it shows up in the game."

Finley, the U.S. Army Ironman of the Game, made a touchdown-saving interception when Green Bay (3-3) led the Yard Dawgz (4-2) 21-16. The Blizzard scored on the following drive to lead 28-16.

The game was much closer than the final score indicates. The Yard Dawgz stayed within two scores for most of the game. Oklahoma quarterback Craig Strickland spread the ball around, throwing six touchdowns to four different receivers. Three of his touchdowns were on the first play of the drive and two others were on the second play of their drives.

When Strickland wasn't throwing touchdown passes, ADT Defensive Player of the game Roosevelt Williams was involved. Williams had an early interception in the end zone and defended three more passes, which helped keep the momentum in Green Bay's favor.

Side notes:

Green Bay's 71 points is a franchise high; the previous best was 68 when hosting Louisville last year. Green Bay closes out its three-game homestand against Midwest Division rival Louisville next week. Oklahoma City returns home to face Wichita in a Southwest Division matchup.
