Cree\'s Three Keys to the Game

Central Valley Coyotes News Release

1. Protection and Pressure

The key to the Central Valley offense tonight will be the protection of rookie quarterback Kyle Biggs. Biggs will be making his first career start against the Dorados. Rio Grande Valley brings an aggressive front line to the table this week. The Dorados have posted 16.5 sacks in five contests this season. In order for Biggs to check his proper reads and make the correct throw, he must feel comfortable in the pocket.

"We have to give Kyle time to throw the ball tonight," said Head Coach Cree Morris. "Last weekend in Green Bay our protection broke down, which then caused the timing of the quarterback and the receivers to be thrown off. Rio Grande Valley has a quick and strong front three, so in order to be successful tonight the pocket will have to hold for all four quarters."

Defensively the Coyotes will need pressure from their front three. Defensive end Ricky Leung-Wai will lead the attack tonight for Central Valley, he has the only sack from a lineman this season thus far. If the Coyotes front line can get after Dorados quarterback Will Burch, this will allow the secondary to come up and make plays.

"We need our front three to put the heat on their quarterback tonight," added Morris. "With the pressure in the backfield, this will allow a quicker release of the ball, which in turn gives our secondary an opportunity to make a play on the ball."

2. 60 Minutes of Football

Coach Morris has stressed the importance of playing hard for all four quarters this week. The Coyotes cannot afford to take a quarter or a half off, if they plan on staying in the game tonight.

"You have to give everything you have on the football field. If we finally put together a complete game, then we are putting ourselves in a good situation to win the game.

"We can't afford to have mental mistakes, I can handle a guy making a physical mistake, but mental mistakes at this point are unacceptable. We have to be sharp at everything we do tonight."

3. Special Teams

The Coyotes special teams must be on its toes this weekend. Kick return specialist Kenyatte Morgan must maximize his returns in order to setup the offensive with good field position. Central Valley's coverage team's also have to limit Rio Grande Valley on their own returns.

"We have been excellent on returning the ball this year, but we have to continue to be consistent. Our coverage team must be alert and tackle well tonight. Special teams is an important part of this game, if we can begin our drives around the 15-20 yard line, and keep the Dorados somewhere around the 5-10 yard line I will be happy tonight."
