Green Bay Blizzard News Release
The Green Bay Blizzard has been assigned new quarterback Gino Guidugli (6'4", 225). Guidugli was a four-year starter for the University of Cincinnati Bearcats. In his freshman season, Guidugli threw for 2,574 yards and 16 touchdowns earning himself the Conference USA Freshman of the Year honors. During his sophomore season he set Cincinnati school records for completion percentage (54.7), passing yards with 3,543, and total offense with 3,570 yards. These numbers earned Guidugli Second Team All-Conference USA honors. Guidugli holds school records in career passing yards with 8,820 and total offense with 8,938 yards.
Guidugli entered the 2005 season on the training camp roster for the Tennessee Titans. He was behind then-starter Steve McNair and Billy Volek. Guidugli gained the interest of various other NFL franchises; however, he was not able to earn a spot on an NFL roster.
To make a roster spot for Guidugli on the Blizzard roster, quarterback Ryan Hawk was released by the team.
The Blizzard takes to the road this week to face the 2-2 Tennessee Valley Vipers. After their game in Huntsville, Alabama, the Blizzard return home to take on the Tri-Cities Fever next Friday, May 11th. Area High School Teams will compete to be called Northeast Wisconsin's Strongest Team, as they compete in the 2nd Annual J.J. Keller Foundation High School Tug of War Challenge. The teams will be competing in an old school Tug of War Challenge. The winner will be presented with the Bradley Williams Memorial Trophy.
Piggly Wiggly and Sargento Cheese are also sponsoring a "Stomp Out Hunger" Food Drive. Fans are encouraged to donate nonperishable food items as they enter the Resch Center. All the food collected will benefit both The Salvation Army and the DePere Christian Outreach Center.
