Blizzard Update: Green Bay finds itself in a familiar position after a 51-30 playoff victory over Bloomington last weekend. For the second consecutive season, the Blizzard head to Sioux Falls for the United Conference Championship game. The game features the IFL's top rushing team versus the top passing team. In the first round game, Green Bay used a stingy defense and ball control to advance. The Blizzard defense held Bloomington 18 points under their season average of just over 48 points per game. Blizzard quarterback Donovan Porterie had five total touchdowns and defensive back James Romain returned an interception for a touchdown with 40 seconds remaining to seal the game. Running back La'Ron Council surpassed the century mark on the ground with 102 rushing yards and a touchdown. Linebacker Greg Jackson had 10 total tackles and defensive back Aaron Moore finished with seven tackles.
The Blizzard had three players that earned All-IFL honors: La'Ron Council, First Team Running Back; BJ Hill, Second Team Defensive Back and Special Teams Kick Returner; and Seth Smalls, Second Team Offensive Line.
Storm Update: Sioux Falls had no problem with its playoff opener, dominating Lehigh Valley 79-21. Quarterback Chris Dixon was 19 of 23 passing for 278 and eight touchdowns. Dixon was recently named the 2012 IFL Offensive Player of the Year. The Storm jumped out to a 63-7 halftime lead and never looked back. Wide receiver James Terry had his biggest game of the season with seven catches for 135 yards and three touchdowns. Wide receiver Carl Sims finished with six grabs for 70 yards and three touchdowns. Linebacker Xavier Jordan led the defense with 11 total tackles. Former Blizzard defensive lineman Jeremiah Price, now with the Storm, had eight tackles, two sacks and five tackles for a loss.
Six members of the Storm earned All-IFL honors. QB Chris Dixon, WR Carl Sims, OL Myniya Smtih and C Charlie Sanders were named first team. LB DeJuan Fulgham and WR Clinton Solomon earned second team honors.
Series: Sioux Falls leads the series 4-0. The Storm won both of the regular season match-ups this year. The two teams also met in the 2011 United Conference Championship game. The Storm beat the Blizzard 52-12.
