Blizzard Add Five, Lose One

Green Bay Blizzard News Release


Green Bay, WI – The Green Bay Blizzard announced today that they have been assigned five players by the af2 league office and lost one to an AFL team. WR/DB Ron Hardge Jr. (6-0, 180, Virginia Union), WR/DB Richard Lewis (6-0, 190, North Dakota State), WR/DB Chris Stimmel (5-11, 206, Northern Iowa), and DS Steve Perkins (5-10, 194, St. Xavier) all have been assigned to the Blizzard roster.

The Blizzard also placed WR/DB Justin Taplin on Other League Exempt. Taplin signed with the Arizona Wranglers of the AFL.

Ron Hardge – Hardge has two years of experience in the af2. Hardge not only brings arena experience with him to the Blizzard, but also NFL experience, as he was in training camp with the Buffalo Bills. Hardge played his college ball at Virginia Union.

Richard Lewis – Lewis will be a rookie in the af2. Lewis starred at North Dakota State before being in the Green Bay Packers training camp in 2002 as a WR/KR.

Chris Stimmel – Stimmel is entering his first season in the af2 and with the Blizzard. Stimmel attended both tryouts that the Blizzard held this year. Stimmel impressed the coaching staff enough that he was offered a contract after the second tryout in December. Stimmel played for the Lincoln Capitals of the NIFL in 2003. Stimmel played at Northern Iowa University from 1998-2001 as a defensive back while earning a degree in Spanish and Geography. Was the Panthers fifth leading tackler with 115 total.

Steve Perkins – Perkins is entering his rookie season in the af2 and with the Blizzard. Perkins was also at the December tryout in Milwaukee. He is the third member of the Blizzard that was signed out of that tryout. Perkins played at St. Xavier University.

Season tickets are available by calling the Blizzard office at (920) 405-1264. Season tickets start at $56 for all eight (8) home games. The Blizzard is entering its second season in af2 play starting in April.

Blizzard Open House

The Green Bay Blizzard will be holding their 2004 open house on Monday, March 22 at the Resch Center from 6:30 -8:30.
