Bakersfield Blitz News Release

BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield Blitz are proud to announce that they will be hosting over 40 athletes from the "League of Dreams" in conjunction with Terrio Therapy-Fitness prior to their home game this Saturday night at 7pm, according to President/General Manager Andrew Watkins.

The League of Dreams is a four-week T-ball league for kids with disabilities ages 5-22. The league consists of "try-outs", Opening Day celebration, four (4) weeks of games, practices, uniforms, hats, and even a team picture. Players have a variety of disabilities, such as autism and Down syndrome, and come from all over the Bakersfield and Kern County areas in a recreation league unlike any other offered in California.

"We started the league so physically and mentally challenged kids could enjoy baseball and experience the fun of being on a team", said Tim Terrio of Terrio Therapy-Fitness. "All kids, especially those with special needs, should know what it's like to be on a ball field, to feel the sun on their faces, and to experience being part of a team. We just wanted to give the kids something special."

Prior to the game, the League of Dreams athletes will join the pre-game festivities on the field and will be introduced to the crowd in honor of a successful season.

"We are proud to host this amazing group of kids and their parents", said Andrew Watkins. "Terrio Therapy has launched a great program that really helps kids of all ages."

Tickets for tomorrow night’s game are available by visiting the Rabobank Arena Box Office or any Ticketmaster outlet. Season tickets are still available for the remaining Blitz home games by calling 661-377-2548 or visiting www.bblitz.com.
