Oklahoma City Blazers News Release
Oklahoma City - The Oklahoma City Blazers of the Central Hockey League signed forward Erick Lizon (lies-on), head coach Doug Sauter announced today.
Lizon, a 6-4, 210-pounder from Kitchner, Ontario, is entering his second season as a pro. Last season, he skated with the Rockford IceHogs of the United Hockey League. With the IceHogs, he recorded seven points (1-6-7) and served 137 penalty minutes. Prior to turning pro, Lizon played two seasons with the Victoriaville Tigres of the QMJHL, scoring 34 points (14-20-34) and serving 230 penalty minutes.
"Erick Lizon will add a different dimension to our hockey club," said Sauter. "Our team needs a power forward that also has the prospect to move on to the next level. Erick fits that mold. He has been scouted as having Wade Brookbank type potential. Prior to attending our training camp, he will skate in an American Hockey League camp with Rockford, the new AHL affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks."
The addition of Lizon brings the number of players officially signed by the Blazers for the 07-08 season to 10. He joins forwards Marty Standish, Garrett Prosofsky, Graham Dearle and Dallas Flaman, blueliners Peter Robertson, Mike Burgoyne, Kevin Wilson and Stacey Bauman and goaltender Jason Wolfe.
The Blazers open training camp October 8 at the Blazers Ice Centre. Play begins for sweet season 16 in the Central Hockey League October 19 at the Ford Center against the Youngstown Steelhounds. For more information, contact the Blazers office at 235-PUCK.
