Oklahoma City Blazers News Release

Oklahoma City - The Oklahoma City Blazers of the Central Hockey League signed veteran defenseman Peter Robertson, head coach Doug Sauter announced today.

Robertson, a 6-1, 215-pounder originally from Rothesay, New Brunswick, is entering his ninth season as a pro, his sixth in Oklahoma City. Last season with the Blazers, he recorded 32 points (9-23-32) while playing in 63 of the team's 64 games. Twenty one (5-16-21) of his points came on the power play. During the Blazers playoff run, he recorded nine points (1-8-9), good for a tie for eighth among CHL defensemen.

The 34-year old Robertson began his career in 1999 with the Macon Whoopee. A trade in the summer of 2000 brought Robertson to Oklahoma City, where he played the next five of the next seven seasons. He was a member of the Blazers 2001 CHL championship squad. Robertson enters this season ranked second in scoring among defensemen on the Blazers all-time list.

"Peter Robertson will be a cornerstone of our hockey club this season," said Sauter. "I have all the confidence in the world that he will be a leader both on and off the ice. He has been a big part of the Blazers family and will continue to be a part of the Oklahoma City community."

Robertson is the third veteran player signed by the Blazers for the 07-08 campaign. Each CHL team is allowed to have four players with 280-or-more games of professional experience. Robertson joins forwards Marty Standish and Garrett Prosofsky as veterans on the Blazers roster.

The addition of Robertson brings the number of players officially signed by the Blazers for the 07-08 season to eight. He joins forwards Marty Standish, Garrett Prosofsky, Graham Dearle and Dallas Flaman and blueliners Mike Burgoyne and Kevin Wilson and goaltender Jason Wolfe.

Full season ticket packages are available for as little as $51 per month. Benefits include access to the York Icehouse Season Ticket Holder Lounge, tickets to select Wichita and Tulsa road games and access to prime parking at a discounted rate.
