BLOOMINGTON - The Bloomington Blaze, fueled by Mid-Illini Credit Union, extended their winning streak to four games while breaking a four-game streak by the Fort Worth Brahmas in a 3-1 triumph on Saturday night at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
The goal lights remained dark until 6:31 remaining in the second period when Jon Booras won a face-off that traveled to Steve Makway at the left point, and his wrister bounced off bodies in front to Matthew Larke, who rapped the puck home from the right circle.
The Brahmas tied the game on a wrister from the slot from Calin Wild into the upper right corner with 15:33 left in the third period on assists by Jake Morley and Austin Mayer. Jon Booras broke the tie with 6:15 remaining in regulation after forcing a turnover at the Brahmas line and racing in for a wrist shot from the left circle. The Blaze sealed the game on an empty net goal by Steve Makway with 25.5 seconds remaining.
