SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah Blaze traded the rights for DL ROB SCHROEDER (6-4, 285, Buffalo) to the Orlando Predators for DB DAMON MASON (5-9, 185, Southwest Louisiana State) today.
"Damon will be a great addition to this team and to our defensive backs," said Blaze head coach and general manager DANNY WHITE. "He is a talented veteran who knows the game, and we are excited to have him on our roster."
Mason began his AFL career in 1998 with Orlando and has earned second-team All-Arena honors three times. He has also made two ArenaBowl appearances (1998, 2000) with the Predators. Last season with the Austin Wranglers, Mason led the team with 93.0 total tackles, ten pass breakups, four interceptions and three forced fumbles.
The 10-year AFL veteran is the AFL's all-time leader in tackles with 934.5 total tackles. So far this season with Orlando, Mason has recorded 18.5 total tackles and one forced fumble.
In other roster moves, the Blaze waived DB TERRANCE SANDERS (5-10, 180, Eastern Illinois).
