March 18, 2008 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Tampa Bay Storm News Release

TAMPA - The five-time world champion Tampa Bay Storm signed defensive back Daryon Brutley off of the practice squad, and signed defensive back Bryant Tisdale and offensive lineman Geir Gudmundsen to the practice squad announced Head Coach and General Manager Tim Marcum. Quarterback Mitch Tanney was claimed off of the practice squad by the Philadelphia Soul and offensive lineman Randy Hand was released.

Brutley, 6-foot-0, 190-pounds, began the season on the practice squad and was signed for just before this weekend's game against the New Orleans VooDoo. In 2007 he set a franchise record with nine interceptions for the South Georgia Wildcats (af2). After his collegiate career at the University of Northern Iowa, where he was a First-Team All-Gateway Football Conference selection in 2001, he signed with the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free-agent. He made his rookie debut in the National Football League with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2003 after which he went on to NFL Europe and played with the Berlin Thunder. In 2004 he made his AFL debut with the Carolina Cobras.

Tisdale, 5-9, 190, returns to the practice squad. He spent the final two weeks of the 2007 AFL season on the Storm practice squad. A native of Clearwater, Florida, he prepped at Dunedin High School in Pinellas County before finishing his college career at the University of Texas-El Paso. Tisdale finished his senior season at UTEP with 60 tackles, seven pass breakups and two interceptions. After his senior year he played in The First Annual All-American Challenge: Texas vs. The Nation Collegiate All-Star Bowl.

Gudmundsen, 6-4, 315, joined the Storm on the practice squad in 2007 and appeared in two games before suffering an ankle injury. He rejoins the team and will add depth to the offensive line with the release of Randy Hand. Gudmundsen began his career with the New York Dragons in 2006 and attended training camp with the Buffalo Bills in 2005.

Tanney, 6-3, 220, spent the first three weeks of the 2008 season on the practice squad. He made significant progress as a signal caller before the Soul claimed him. Philadelphia must sign him to its active roster as he will back up Matt D'Orazio.
