Utah Blaze News Release
SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah Blaze are pleased to announce the signing of LB Casey Davis (6-3, 265, Utah State). Davis is the third former Utah State Aggie on the team along with WR Aaron Lesue and LB Devin Johnson.
Davis was born in Salt Lake City and grew up in Riverton, Utah where he received first-team all-region honors at Riverton High School.
After high school, Davis attended Snow Junior College where he walked on as a member of the football team. After just one semester at Snow, Davis was awarded a scholarship for his second season. As a sophomore, Davis started in every game and was a key contributor to Snow's defense being ranked first in the nation amongst junior colleges. He earned first-team all-conference honors while recording 49.0 total tackles, including 19 tackles for loss and four sacks.
Davis then transferred to Utah State, where he started the first six games, notching 17.0 total tackles and one sack before suffering a knee injury.
As a senior, Davis missed first half of the season while still continuing rehab. Upon his return, he tallied 13.0 total tackles for the Aggies.
Davis will add depth in the linebacker position as the Blaze prepare to take on the Iowa Barnstormers Friday, May 27 at 6 p.m. (MT). The game can be viewed on the NFL Network and will be broadcast live on Utah's Flagship Station 1280/104.7 The Zone.
