The Blast kicked off the 2015-16 MASL season hosting the Chicago Mustangs. In front of a crowd of 9,442, the Blast defeated the Mustangs 7-2.

The game got off to a fast start for the Blast with 3 goals scored in the first quarter. Adriano Dos Santos recorded the first Blast goal of the season at the 5:36 mark off an assist from Vini Dantas. With one minute to go in the quarter Vini Dantas recorded a goal off an assist from Pat Healey and 29 seconds later Andrew Hoxie recorded his first Blast goal assisted by Onua Obasi. At the end of the first the Blast led 3-0.

The Chicago Mustangs began the scoring in the second quarter with a goal from Antonio Aguilar. At the 7:40 mark, after a Blast penalty, Efrain Wilo Martinez scored a shootout goal cutting the Blast lead to one. Vini Dantas would answer for the Blast with his second goal of the game, assisted by Juan Pereira. At the half the Blast led 4-2.

In the second half the Blast were able to extend their lead. At the 7:04 mark last years team leader in points, Lucas Roque, recorded his first goal of the season. Juan Pereira recorded his second assist of the game on the goal. At the 11:54 mark another new Blast member, Brad Vanino, found the back of the net off an assist from Vini Dantas. The Blast entered the final quarter leading 6-2.

The Blast came out in the fourth quarter with solid defensive play. With 4 minutes left in the game Levi Houpeau was able to score an empty net goal to extend the Blast lead to 5. The Mustangs made a late push with goals by Taylor Bond and Antonio Aguilar but William Vanzela and the Blast were able to seal the victory. The final score was Blast 7 Mustangs 4.

The Blast move to 1-0 on the season. Vini Dantas led the offense with 2 goals and 2 assists. Goalkeeper, William Vanzela, recorded 7 saves while Kaoru Forbess had 4 blocks. Juan Pereira recorded 2 assists while Pat Healey and Lucas Roque contributed 2 blocks each. The Blast will return home next Saturday, November 14th, to take on the Syracuse Silver Knights at 7:35p.m. from the Royal Farms Arena.
