
Blast to Host Force, Cabral to Appear on ESPN2\'s Cold Pizza

Blast Midfielder to Appear on Cold Pizza Thursday Morning: Baltimore Blast midfielder Denison Cabral will be featured on ESPN2's Cold Pizza morning show on Thursday, November 13. The Blast's all-time leading scorer and four-time All-Star will be joined on the show by Philadelphia KiXX goalkeeper Peter Pappas and Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Commissioner Steve Ryan as part of the Cold Pizza "It's Better Indoors" week. Cold Pizza, hosted by Jay Crawford and Kit Hoover, broadcasts live each weekday morning from 7 to 9 a.m. on ESPN2. The show then replays at 9:00 am with live news updates.
Blast vs. Force: The Baltimore Blast is back at home this Friday night for the second of three consecutive home games at 1st Mariner Arena. This week the Blast will host the Cleveland Force for the first time this season. The Blast won the 2002-03 season series between the clubs, 4-2, and went on to win the Eastern Conference Semifinal in Cleveland, 16-13, to advance to the second round of the playoffs. The Blast won all three games against the Force at 1st Mariner Arena last season; Cleveland has not won a game in Baltimore since the 2001-02 season when the then-Crunch won, 16-10.

Denison Flips for Charity: Denison Cabral and the Blast have initiated the "Denison Flips for Charity" program to assist the fundraising efforts of local charities. The team will raffle off four Denison Cabral jerseys throughout the 2003-04 MISL season with all the proceeds going to local charitable organizations. Raffle tickets are available at every home Blast game between now and April 2. Blast fans will be able to purchase a $2 raffle ticket at a designated table on the Arena stage. For $5 fans can purchase three raffle tickets. The winning raffle tickets will be chosen during the Blast games on November 21, January 9, February 21 and April 2.
Farias Named MISL Offensive Player of the Week: Carlos "Chile" Farias was named MISL Offensive Player of the Week for the period ending November 9. Farias, 27, recorded four assists Saturday night in Baltimore's 8-4 win over the Monterrey Fury (Mexico). The native of Santiago, Chile is currently tied for 12th in the League with eight points (two goals, six assists) after five games this season. The Blast acquired Farias via a trade in July when defender Sean Bowers (this week's MISL Defensive Player of Week) went to the Sockers.
Feeling Right at Home: Blast newcomer David Bascome has recorded at least one point in each of the six games he has played in for Baltimore. In his Blast debut on October 11, he recorded an assist and has continued to score for the Blast ever since. He has five goals and four assists so far on the season to rank second on the team and tied for seventh in the MISL with nine points. In his 13th professional season, Bascome ranks 16th in NPSL/MISL history with 928 points and is just 15 points from moving into the 15th spot.
Most Recently: The Blast players received their championship rings Saturday night in a pregame ceremony and went on to defeat the expansion Monterrey Fury, 8-4. The Fury got the first goal of the game before Baltimore scored four unanswered goals to take a 4-1 lead at halftime. Denison Cabral, Billy Nelson and Giuliano Celenza led the Blast in goal scoring while Chile Farias led the team in points with four assists on the night. Goalkeeper Scott Hileman was back in action after missing two games with a shoulder injury; Hileman turned away nine of the 13 shots he faced and allowed just four goals.
