
Blast signs Towson defender Steve Fell

Baltimore â Baltimore Blast General Manager Kevin Healey announced today that Steve Fell has signed for the rest of the season. Fell, the captain of the 2003-04 Towson Tigers soccer team, was Baltimore's second-round pick in the 2005 MISL Amateur Draft. Forward Machel Millwood has missed the last eight games with a groin injury and underwent sports hernia surgery yesterday.
"Steve is a quality young man who has worked hard for this opportunity," Healey said.
Fell, a 2004 Second-Team All-Colonial Athletic Association selection, has been training with the Blast for the last several months. He was a four-year starter at Towson and was named the 2001 Rookie of the Year for all of Towson's men's sports teams. As a defender, Fell recorded five goals and two assists in 66 games during his college career. The 5-9, 155-pound graduate of Stephen Decatur High School, was a member of Towson's America East Championship team in 2001.
In other Blast news, the team announced yesterday that it traded Neil Gilbert and Allen Eller to Cleveland in exchange for forwards Joel Bailey and Sipho Sibiya. The Blast will host the Force this Friday night at 7:35 p.m. at 1st Mariner Arena. The first 2,500 fans who enter 1st Mariner Arena on Friday night will receive a free Giuliano Celenza bobblehead, courtesy of the Baltimore Blast and 1st Mariner Bank.
The Blast (13-18, sixth place in the MISL), has eight games remaining in the regular season and needs to move into the fourth spot in order to advance to the 2005 MISL postseason. The Blast will host the Force Friday night, at 1st Mariner Arena then will travel to play the Philadelphia KiXX on Sunday. Blast tickets are on sale now by calling the Blast office at 410-73-BLAST.
