BALTIMORE, Maryland - The Baltimore Blast have announced the re-signing of defender Ibrahima 'Kalou' Keita to a three-year contract. Per team and league policies, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Keita, 29, is entering his second year with the Blast. In his rookie season, Keita logged four points and seven shots blocked in thirteen appearances. His first goal with the Blast was scored on February 15, 2019 versus the Mississauga Metrostars in a 6-3 victory. He would score his four goals in the last five games of the MASL regular season. His performances led to a selection to the All-MASL Top Newcomer shortlist.

Coach Danny Kelly noted Keita's strength in joining the attack from a defensive position, stating "Kalou showed he had a big upside last season. He came in mid-season and picked things up very quickly, and he had an immediate impact as a defender who can jump into the attack and contribute offensively. Kalou has the potential to be a top attacking defender in this league." Blast Owner Ed Hale said "Kalou came in and helped us last year, as well as develop as a defender. We're happy to have him back."

The Blast have now made two re-signings in the defense within the past seven days, with Adriano Dos Santos signing his extension last Friday and Keita extending his stay with the Blast for another three years.
