Blast Pushes Past Ambush

Although putting up a hard fought match until the end, the St. Louis Ambush could not stop the Baltimore Blast's momentum, who left the arena tonight with their seventh consecutive win of the season. The final score of the game had the Blast ahead 14-2. Baltimore is now 8-2 on the season.
The first points on the board came from Baltimore's Adriano Dos Santos, scoring 2 points from a close range goal 7:35 into the game. Only 3 minutes later, Dos Santos lit up the scoreboard again with a sharp shot into the upper 90, increasing the Blast's lead to 4-0 in the first quarter.
Baltimore opened again with a quick four points to add to their lead. 2:32 into the quarter, Max Ferdinand, unassisted, bent the ball over St. Luis's keeper to find the back of the net and two more points for his team. A few seconds later at 2:47 in, Tony Donatelli of the Baltimore Blast tacked on two more points from a pass fed by #19, Marco Mangione. St. Louis finally turned on the heat after trailing 6-0 in the second quarter; Brandon Manzonelli scored two points for his team at 3:27 into the quarter from a direct kick, awarded to the Ambush for a tripping foul called on Baltimore. The Blast demonstrated another quick turn-around, as Tony Donatelli scored his second goal of the night at 4:56 into the quarter. The first half ended with Baltimore ahead 10-2.
After making adjustments to their defense, the Ambush held off Baltimore's attack for the large part of the third quarter, until Blast's forward Mike Lookingland found the back of the net with four seconds remaining on the clock. Lookingland widened the margin to 12-2 going into the final quarter.
After a quick series of driving passes up the field, Mark Mangione of the Baltimore Blast launched a goal-scoring shot assisted by Lucio Gonzaga with 5:02 remaining in the fourth quarter, which completed the match's final score at 14-2.
The Blast played a great offensive game and was led by forwards Tony Donatelli and Adriano Dos Santos scored two goals each. Defensively, goalkeeper William Vanzela, who had 9 saves, led the Blast.
On Sunday the Blast head to New York to face the number three seated Syracuse Silver Knights at 1:00pm. Baltimore will battle against a team of skilled players as Syracuse holds several key MISL stars. They are led offensively by forward Kenardo Forbes and Ptah Meyers and led defensively by Nelson Santana. Syracuse is coached by Tommy Tanner and Joe Papaleo. With another win against the Silver Knights, Baltimore will extend their winning streak to eight games. LET'S GO BLAST!
