Harrisburg Heat News Release
Baltimore, MD - The Harrisburg Heat scored the first goal of the game and was outscored 18-4 the rest of the way, falling to the Baltimore Blast by the final score of 18-6 in front of 2,894 fans at Baltimore Arena on Saturday night. Harrisburg falls to 10-31 on the year, while Baltimore improves to 18-23 and clinches a playoff berth with the win.
The Heat struck first, taking a 2-0 lead at 5:46 of the first when Matt Knowles slid a Zoran Karic restart feed underneath Blast keeper Scott Hileman (11 saves). Baltimore responded with a 12-0 run to take a decisive lead, using 2pgs from Paul Wright (11:42), Lee Tschantret (11:54), Danny Kelly (12:45), Denison Cabral (2:53 of the second), Dewan Bader (10:46), and Tarik Walker (12:21). Nick Corneli temporarily ended the bleeding with a deuce at 13:42, and Baltimore held a 12-4 lead going into halftime.
Lance Johnson (4:53) and Tschantret (8:28) upped the Blast edge to 16-4 with third-quarter goals before Jason Webb tapped home a Corneli through-ball at 9:37. One minute later, Giuliano Celenza one-timed a 2pg past losing goalkeeper Doug Petras (17 saves in falling to 9-21 on the year) for an 18-6 Baltimore advantage, which is where it stood going into the fourth.
In stark contrast to the feverish pace of the first three quarters, the fourth quarter featured no points for either side, and Baltimore coasted to the 18-6 victory.
NOTES: Baltimore wins the season series between the two clubs 7-3...The Heat plays its final road game of the season tomorrow, Sunday April 7, in Philadelphia against the KiXX. Game time at the First Union Spectrum is 5:05 p.m.
