
Crunch falls to Comets

CLEVELAND, OHIO - The Cleveland Crunch traveled to Kansas City, Missouri and was defeated by the Kansas City Comets 18-12, this afternoon at the Kemper Arena.
With the loss, the Crunch fell to 13-28 and dropped its fifth straight game. With the victory, Kansas City improved to 24-17 overall and improved to 7-1 in the season series.
Cleveland opened the scoring (2-0) when Steve Butcher found the top shelf on the restart off the feed from Hector Marinaro at the 11:56 mark. The Crunch added to its first period lead (3-0) when Marinaro scored on the shoot out at the 12:58 mark.
The Crunch started the second quarter scoring the same way it ended the first as Marinaro scored the shoot out goal as headed the ball over Brian Bowers head. Cleveland added its lead (6-0) when Bill Sedgewick scored the goal in the back post off the pass from Marinaro at the 4:01 mark. The Comets got their first points of the game (6-2) when Jake Dancy scored from the pass of Wes Wade at the 4:02 mark. The Crunch responded (8-2) when Marinaro scored just under the cross bar at the 4:28 mark. Kansas City then cut into the lead (8-4) when Jeff Davis scored off the assist from Nino DaSilva. The Comets continued their scoring streak (8-6) when Alex Zotinca scored off the pass from Kevin Koetters. Kansas City closed out the first half scoring (8-8) when DaSilva scored off the assist from Wade at the 13:33 mark.
The Comets opened up the second half scoring (11-8) when Alex Zotinca scored his second goal of the game off the pass from Koetters. Kansas City then got two shoot out scores from Dino Delevski on the penalties to Jim Larkin and Nevio Pizzolitto to increase the lead to 13-8. The Comets got their final points of the period (15-8) when Ato Leone scored off the assist from Wade.
Kansas City scored its final points of the game (18-8) when Dino Delevski scored off the assist from Koetters. Cleveland ended a 16-0 run by the Comets when (18-10) when John Ball scored off the assist from Marinaro. The Crunch got the final points of the game (18-12) when Guiliano Oliviero found the back of the net off the pass from Ball.
