Blast Open Season with 8-7 Win over Utica City FC

(BALTIMORE, MD) The Blast opened the season with a 8-7 victory over Utica City FC. Christian Segura opened the scoring for Utica City midway through the first quarter. In a tightly contested defensive battle, Utica City FC entered the 1st quarter break with a 1-0 lead.
Ibrahima 'Kalou' Keita scored the first Blast goal of the season to begin the second quarter that broke the way for an action-packed quarter. Bo Jelovac continued his impressive 2018-19 season form with an unassisted goal to put Utica City back up. Daniel Peruzzi would score his first goal since his long-term knee injury last season to tie the score at 2-2. Uros Momic and Christian Segura would score late in the second quarter to give Utica City a 4-2 lead at halftime. '
After the halftime break, the Blast would answer with four consecutive goals to put them up 6-4. Ibrahima Keita and Daniel Peruzzi would add their second goals of the game. Andrew Hoxie and Vini Dantas struck for the first time of the season to give the Blast a slim lead in the third quarter.
Utica City FC would tie the game at 6-6 midway through the fourth quarter with Christian Segura's third goal of the game and Logan Roberts first goal of the game. In the dying embers of the game, Daniel Peruzzi would give the Blast a 7-6 lead on his third goal of the game. Utica City would add their sixth attacker into the game with a minute remaining. The Blast would immediately score as Jonatas Melo scored his first goal of the new season. Utica City would grab a goal back as Jake Schindler scored with the extra attacker on the field. The Blast would hold onto the lead for the remaining time to open the season with an 8-7 victory.
Juan Pereira and Daniel Peruzzi led the Blast in scoring with four points each, while Christian Segura & Bo Jelovac led Utica City in scoring with three points each. The Blast travel to the Adirondack Bank Center to take on Utica City FC in a rematch on Sunday November 24, 2019 at 2:00 PM.
