Baltimore Blast News Release
The Blast advanced to 3-1 on the season with a 6-3 victory over the visiting Chicago Storm Saturday night. Midfielder Robbie Aristodemo scored in the third minute to give the Blast the early lead and the team never trailed from that point on. Six different players scored for the Blast Saturday night, including P.J. Wakefield who also recorded three assists. Forward Adauto Neto recorded two assists to remain the only Blast player who has recorded at least one point in each game this season.
Wakefield Named MISL Defensive Player of the Week: Blast defender P.J. Wakefield was named MISL Defensive Player of the Week after his four-point performance in Baltimore's 6-3 win over the Chicago Storm Saturday night. Wakefield, who turns 25 today, recorded one goal and three assists in the game. He has four points and four blocks in four games this season. A graduate of UMBC and Calvert Hall, Wakefield was the 2002-03 MISL Rookie of the Year. A long-time offensive player, Wakefield moved into a defensive role last season and has become an integral part of Baltimore's defense.
Tschantret on Pace to Hit 1,000: Lee Tschantret is on pace to become the 15th player in League history to record 1,000 points in his career. Tschantret, a 15-year veteran of professional indoor soccer, has 976 points heading into this weekend's match against the Milwaukee Wave. Tschantret has three goals and two assists (five points) in four games this season. David Bascome recorded his 1,000th point on November 19th when the Blast defeated the St. Louis Steamers, 12-5.

Back in Action: After an injury-plagued 2004-05 season, the Blast is back at full strength this year, with the exception of Machel Millwood who will be out at least two more weeks with ankle and knee injuries. Baltimore's all-time leading scorer Denison Cabral is back to his high-scoring ways and forward Carlos Garcia is also back from last-year's season-ending knee injury and surgery. Cabral and Garcia retuned to the playing field on November 11th after almost a full year (364 days) of not playing in a game. Both players left last season's November 12th game against the Wave last year with knee injuries and underwent surgery later in the season.
Cabral recorded a hat trick in the 12-5 win over the Steamers (11/19) and ranks fifth in the MISL with eight points after four games. Garcia has two goals so far this season.
