Blast Falls to Comets in Championship Series

Game 2

The Baltimore Blast faced the Missouri Comets tonight for the MISL championship. After falling in game one to the Comets on Friday the Blast were able to bounce back with a 19-4 victory and forced a 15 minute mini game for the MISL championship.

The first quarter was a low scoring start to the game. Marco Mangione got the Blast on the board first with a goal at 13:30 off an assist from Lucas Roque. With 4:15 left in the quarter Mike Deasel was able to score off an assist from Adauto Neto.

Adauto Neto started off the second quarter with a 3-point goal at 12:12 off an assist from Lucio Gonzaga. Max Ferdinand found the back of the net off an assist from Mike Lookingland at the 8:25 mark followed by Lookinland assisting Tony Donatelli with 5:05 remaining in the quarter. The Blast went into the half leading 11-0.

The Blast continued to dominate in the second half. Lucio Gonzaga scored at 12:39 for the teams 6th goal of the night. Mike Lookingland recorded his 3rd assist of the night on the goal. At 9:11 Adauto Neto extended the Blast lead to 15 by scoring his second goal of the night off an assist from Lucio Gonzaga. With 2:54 left in the quarter Leo Gibson got the Comets first goal of the night assisted by Ramone Palmer.

The Blast began the fourth quarter with a great ball by J.T Noone that Neto was able to net with a diving header for his third goal of the night. Missouri's Brian Harris scored at 6:57 in the quarter off an assist from Max Touluote. After a Missouri blue card Max Ferdinand was able to take advantage with a power play with a goal off an assist from Tony Donatelli. At the final buzzer, the Blast had won 19-4.

Game 3: Final

After winning game 2 of the MISL semifinal series the Blast forced a 15- minute mini game against the Comets. Missouri pushed past the Blast 6-4 and went home with the MISL Championship Title.

After a huge defensive stand by the Blast defense and a goal saving block by Pat Healey to start the quarter, Max Ferdinand gave the Blast a lead at 6:32 with a goal off an assist from Marco Mangione. With 5:36 on the clock the Comets answered as Lucas Rodriguez scored off a Stefan St. Louis assist to tie it at 2. After scoring a hat trick in game two Neto wasn't done for the night yet; at 2:49 he gave the Blast the lead while Tony Donatelli recorded the assist. The Comets tied it up at 1:34 off a Stefan St. Louis goal with an assist from Lucas Rodriguez. With 0:54 seconds remaining, the Comets' Brian Harris, who won the 2013-14 Championship series MVP, the game winning goal off an assist from Leo Gibson. At the final buzzer the Blast had lost 6-4.

Offensively, Adauto Neto led the way recording a hat trick in game two and added a goal in game 3. Neto had 9 points on the night. Mike Lookingland had 3 assists in the game 2 win while six different Blast players were able to record goals. Goalkeeper William Vanzela recorded 7 saves in game two and 1 in game three.
