MISL Championship Series Concludes Tonight

March 16, 2014 - Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) News Release

BALTIMORE - The 2014 MISL Championship will be claimed on Sunday evening as the Baltimore Blast host the Missouri Comets for Game 2 of the MISL Championship Series at the Baltimore Arena. Kickoff is set for 5:05 p.m. ET, with all of the action available live on YouTube as the Comets enter with a 1-0 series advantage following their 15-8 victory on Friday night.

Should the Blast take victory in Game 2, a 15-minute Game 3 mini-game would be played following the contest to decide the championship.

The Comets set a pair of records in their win on Friday night as their five goals all came from 3-point range, with captain Vahid Assadpour notching a hat trick of 3-pointers to lead his side to victory. Baltimore had taken an early 4-0 lead in the opening five minutes, but was then held scoreless until the final two minutes as the Comets went on a historic run in front of their home fans at the Independence Events Center.

Both teams will be without key players for Game 2 after the ejections of Baltimore's Adriano Dos Santos (31 points, reg. season) and Missouri's John Sosa (46 points, reg. season). Both players were suspended for one game on Saturday, but would be eligible to play should the Blast force a deciding Game 3.

Baltimore is expected to be boosted by the return from injury of 2013-14 MISL Goalkeeper of the Year William Vanzela, who was unavailable for Friday night's game with a reported bruised elbow. In his absence, the Comets claimed their first victory against the Blast in more than a year, with the Blast having swept last year's championship meeting between the two teams and this regular season's series.

Tickets for Game 2, and the potential Game 3, are available by visiting www.baltimoreblast.com, by calling (410) 73-BLAST, or by visiting the Baltimore Arena box office.
