Blast Fall to Comets 5-1

Baltimore Blast traveled to Kansas City on Sunday evening for a matchup against the rival Comets. In the only regular season matchup of the season the Comets were victorious 5-1.

In the first quarter both teams focused on defensive play and controlling possession. Blast goalkeeper, William Vanzela, who recorded a shutout on Saturday night recorded 3 saves in the quarter and kept the Comets scoreless. At the end of the first the game was tied 0-0.

The first goal of the game went to the Comets when Odaine Sinclair scored off an assist from John Sosa. The Comets would build a lead with back to back goals at the 7:32 mark. Leo Gibson recorded his seventh goal of the season assisted by John Sosa and seconds later Stefan Stokic extended the Comets lead to 3. The Blast would get on the board when Jonatas Melo recorded his fourth goal of the season off a restart. Before the end of the half the Comets would strike again with a goal from Guerrero Pino assisted by Ramone Palmer and the Blast went into the locker room trailing 4-1.

In the second half the Blast offense was unable to convert on scoring opportunities. The Comets held the Blast scoreless in the half and added a late goal by Stefan Stokic to seal the victory. At the final buzzer the Blast were defeated 5-1.

The only Blast goal of the night was recorded by Jonatas Melo. Blast goalkeeper, William Vanzela, recorded 6 saves on the night.

The Blast will be back in action Saturday, December 17th when they travel to Dallas to take on the Sidekicks. Kickoff is at 8:05 p.m. EST.
