The Blast traveled to Missouri on Thursday night for game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. In a thrilling comeback the Blast defeated the Comets 4-3.

The Comets got on the board first at the 1:57 mark with a goal from Lucas Rodriguez. The Blast would answer quickly when 9 seconds later Levi Houapeu would score his second goal of the postseason assisted by Tony Donatelli. At the end of the first the Blast and Comets were tied at 1.

In a very intense and physical game the only goal scored in the second quarter belonged to the Comets. Missouri converted on a power play :55 seconds into the quarter to gain the lead. Blast goalkeeper, William Vanzela, recorded 4 saves in the first half and the Blast went into the locker room trailing 2-1.

Both teams came out in the second half with high energy. Stefan Stokic recorded the only goal of the quarter for the Comets at the 5:47 mark. The Blast entered the final quarter trading 3-1.

The Blast would battle back when Lucas Roque recorded his second playoff goal off an assist from Andrew Hoxie. At the 12:58 mark the Blast would tie the game at 3 when Adriano Dos Santos found the back of the net off an assist from Andrew Hoxie. At the end of regulation the game was tied 3-3.

Only 6 seconds into overtime Blast captain, Pat Healey, played a ball down the field off the wall to Juan Pereira who was able to find the back of the net for the game winning goal. The final score was Blast 4 Comets 3.

The Blast were led by MASL Defender of the Year Pat Healey, who recorded 3 blocks and recorded the assist on the game winning goal. Levi Houapeu, Lucas Roque, Adriano Dos Santos, and Juan Periera all recorded goals for the Blast while Andrew Hoxie contributed 2 assists. Blast goalkeeper, William Vanzela, recorded 10 saves in the victory.

The Blast will return to Baltimore for game 2 on Tuesday, March 29th at 7:05p.m. from the Royal Farms Arena. Tickets are available through TicketMaster of by calling the Blast office at 410-558-4295.
