Blast announces October 16 home opener

Baltimore, MD – The back-to-back MISL Champion Baltimore Blast will play their 2004-05 home opener on Saturday, October 16 at 1st Mariner Arena. In addition to defending the 2003 and 2004 MISL titles, the Blast will be celebrating the 25th season of professional indoor soccer in Baltimore. The opponent for October 16 will be announced, along with the full 2004-05 MISL schedule, in September. The Blast will celebrate the 2004 MISL Championship on October 16 with a banner-raising and ring-presentation ceremony.

The Blast will play 20 home games at 1st Mariner Arena this season, with the playoffs set to begin in April. The 2004-05 season marks the return of an indoor soccer franchise in Chicago, with the expansion Chicago Storm playing at the UIC Pavilion this season.

Keeping with the Baltimore Blast tradition of affordable family entertainment, fans will be treated to various promotional items throughout the season including replica jersey T-shirts, soccer balls and bobble heads. The team will host a variety of theme nights including Boy and Girl Scout night and two free post-game concerts, featuring the popular Christian performers Jeremy Camp and the David Crowder Band. In addition, the Blast will host a "Blast from the Past Night" to celebrate the franchise's 25 seasons in Baltimore. The team will also induct additional members into the Hall of Fame.

Blast season tickets and mini-plans are on sale now by calling 410-73-BLAST. Single-game tickets will be on sale in September at the 1st Mariner Arena Box Office and at all TicketMaster outlets including TicketMaster phonecharge at 410-547-SEAT. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.ticketmaster.com.

The Blast just wrapped up another summer of Baltimore Blast Summer Soccer Camps at sites throughout the Baltimore Metropolitan area. More than 1,400 youth soccer players attended Blast camp this summer. The team is set to begin training camp in mid-September.
