Blast Announces 2008-09 Schedule

Baltimore - The Baltimore Blast announced today the full schedule for the 2008-09 National Indoor Soccer League season. The team will open the season at 1st Mariner Arena on Saturday, November 15 against the Orlando Sharks. The Blast will play 18 games this season; nine at home and nine on the road.
2008-09 season highlights include four games against the Monterrey La Raza, who the Blast defeated, 14-11, last season to win the MISL Championship. The Blast and La Raza will face each other for the first time on December 28th in Monterrey and La Raza will travel to Baltimore for the first time on January 23rd. The Blast will also play four games against the Rockford Rampage, Baltimore's newest opponent. The Rampage will play their first game at 1st Mariner Arena on December 20th. The Blast will play the Philadelphia KiXX six times, beginning on December 12th at 1st Mariner Arena.
The Blast will play four home games on Friday nights and five home games on Saturday nights. All of the nine home games will kick off at 7:35 p.m.
Keeping with the Baltimore Blast tradition of affordable family entertainment, fans will be treated to various promotional items throughout the season including replica jersey T-shirts, soccer balls and bobble heads. The team will host a variety of theme nights including Boy and Girl Scout nights, the halftime mascot and celebrity games and a free post-game concert. In addition, the Blast will host a Hall of Fame Night to celebrate the franchise's 29th season in Baltimore and at least one more former player will be inducted into the club's Hall of Fame.
Head coach Danny Kelly will return for his third full season as the team's coach and David Bascome, who retired after 17 years of professional indoor soccer, will return as Kelly's assistant coach.
The NISL will feature five teams in its inaugural season. In addition to the Blast, the Philadelphia KiXX, Orlando Sharks, Monterrey La Raza and the Rockford Rampage will field teams this year.
Blast season tickets and five-game mini plans are on sale now through the Blast office. Single-game tickets will go on sale in mid October and will be available at the 1st Mariner Arena Box Office and at all TicketMaster outlets including TicketMaster phonecharge at 410-547-SEAT.
