Mobile BayBears News Release

MOBILE, AL - The Mobile BayBears snapped their four game losing streak, dropping the Jackson Generals 4-1 at Hank Aaron Stadium Saturday night. RHP Aaron Blair limited the Generals to just the one run on four hits over seven innings of work, earning his second straight win in just his second Double-A start. With the win the BayBears improved to 12-4 against the Generals in 2014 and Mobile owns the best overall record in the Southern League at 63-40.

Mobile struck first with two runs in the bottom of the first inning when Tom Belza and Taylor Harbin reached base with back-to-back singles. Zach Borenstein drove in Belza with a RBI base hit and Harbin scored on a RBI ground-out from Jon Griffin to give Mobile a 2-0 advantage.

The one loan run for the Generals came in the top of the third inning when Patrick Brady took Blair deep for a solo home run, his second of the year. The homer was just one of four his for Jackson in the ball game as the Generals finished a dismal 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position and stranded five runners on base.

The BayBears padded their lead scoring one run in the bottom of the fourth inning when Evan Marzilli tripled and scored on a RBI base hit from Gerson Montiila to push the Mobile lead to 3-1. The final run for the BayBears came in the bottom of the seventh when Borenstein powered out a solo home run to right.

Sunday evening the BayBears and Generals will continue the five game series with game two scheduled for a 5:05 PM start time with gates opening at Hank Aaron Stadium one hour prior to first pitch. RHP Mike Lee (6-5, 4.65) will take the hill for Mobile while LHP Tyler Olson (5-5, 4.50) will take the mound for Jackson.
