
Stars Drop Fifth Straight

Huntsville, AL - The Chattanooga Lookouts raced out to an early lead and never looked back as they defeated the Huntsville Stars 10-6 Saturday at Joe Davis Stadium. The Lookouts lead the Stars 1-0 in their five-game series, as the Stars dropped their fifth straight game.
Chattanooga scored a run in each of the first four innings.
The Lookouts got a grand slam from Alex Liddi in the top of the first inning against Huntsville starter Drew Gagnon(7-5). The Lookouts also received an rbi single from O'Koyea Dickson in the opening frame giving them a 5-0 lead before the Stars even came to bat.
The Lookouts made it 6-0 in the second on Noel Cuevas's solo homerun, his seventh of the season.
In the top of the third, Chattanooga catcher J.C. Boscan singled home Darnell Sweeney extending the Lookouts lead to 7-0.
Gagnon, who had his two game winning streak snapped, worked only three innings allowing six hits on seven runs(five earned). He allowed two homeruns.
The Stars got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third inning against Chattanooga starter Andres Santiago(3-6). Nick Ramierz hit a two-run single off the first baseman Dickson's glove making it 7-2.
The Lookouts posted a pair of runs in the top of the fourth against reliever Kevin Shackelford. Dickson provided an rbi single and Cuevas scored on a wild pitch giving the Lookouts a 9-2 lead.
The Lookouts biggest lead of the night came when they had a 10-2 lead after Dickson's rbi double in the sixth. Dickson finished 3-5 with 3 rbi's.
The Stars attempted to make a comeback by scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Robinson Diaz doubled scoring Hector Gimenez. Diaz later scored on a passed ball making 10-4.
Santiago, who earned the win pitched 5.2 innings and allowed five hits on four runs. He also walked five and struck out five.
The Stars scored the final two runs of the game. In the bottom of the seventh, Diaz generated a sacrifice fly, cutting the Lookouts lead to 10-5. Diaz was 1-4 with 2 rbi's.
The Stars scored their final run in the bottom of the eighth. Yadiel Rivera tripled to open up the inning. Erik Komatsu scored Rivera on a groundout to second base.
The Stars(16-20, 62-44) and Lookouts(13-21, 39-65) continue their series Sunday. The Stars will have RHP Jacob Barnes(2-5, 4.85) on the mound. Chattanooga will send RHP Nick Struck(1-6, 7.69) to the hill. The game can be heard with Steve Jarnicki starting at 3:45 pm CDT on 92.9 FM, 1450 AM and wtkiradio.com.
